Reduce Image File Size

Large images slow uploads and web pages. Compression reduces file weight, while resizing reduces pixel dimensions; these are different operations.

What affects the result?

If width and height are larger than needed, resize first and then compress. If dimensions are right, adjust quality only.

Keep the original, try a medium quality level, compare size and appearance, then increase quality if artifacts are visible.

Inspect small text and logo edges after compression. Do not overwrite the original until the result is approved.

Does image compression change dimensions?

The compressor focuses on file size. Use the resize tool when you need different width and height.
